Lees Garden Community Garden at 166 Lees Ave. had a successful season in 2013.

The garden expanded the number of plots available by eight, which allowed many new members to join and grow fresh produce.

All gardeners had fun tending their vegetables and working in the garden. As well, many people from around Ottawa East stopped in and shared their gardening knowledge and enjoyed passing time.

Many people, organizations and companies helped along the way. Lees Community Garden was established in 2011 through the hard work of volunteers and generous support from Fiskars Canada, the city and Just Foods.

We have continued to receive support from neighbourhood organizations and local businesses, including the Ottawa East Community Association , Sandy Hill Community Health Centre, Rideau East Apartments and CosmoMart. Garden members wish to thank all supporters for their ongoing assistance.

In 2014, gardeners are looking forward to expanding the garden and building a new bench for all to enjoy.

If you are interested in learning more, the Lees Community Garden group would be happy hear from you. While there is a small wait list for vegetable plots, we do have some turnover. The garden group also encourages interest from floral gardeners. There are special flower sections available.
